Its a nice point he makes about deco on the fly and how team work is always there to back you up and std gas list etc. I have spent many hours looking into the dir/gue way of diving and some of my kit even runs to there ways but this average deco is not for me. The only reason they run there deco in this manner is due to cave diving were you are unalbe to have a nice vertial/curve profile this seems to get lost in all the dir lovers. There are several papers avabile for this style of deco and they all show one thing........... and that is how much "we" (as in the diving inductry) don't fully understand deco and even the gue founders have said that they (as a group) understand about 20% of it and there is loads and loads more work to be done on it.

I am very much in agrement with you on this. My kit config is very DIR/GUE and I also have spent many hours looking into their general philosophy. I must say I was very impressed until I met some of them! The first couple of guys I met were great, really friendly guy's, but unfortunatlely it seemed to go down hill from there. All a lilttle too :geek: :ugeek: :geek: :ugeek: for me.

I think Deco is such a complex and evolving subject, that to say "This is right and that's shite!" is a little norrow minded. I also am not sure about all this average depth stuff, all seems a bit hit and miss from what I've read on the DIRX articles. Seems like a sure way of getting bent. But then again what would I know I'm only a "Stroke"!

I think the only thing missing from the GUE mixing bowl is a good dollop of "humour", and a good couple of lumps of IANTD, and they'd be great.

And finally getting back to the original topic........

I myself would very much like and intend to buy a VR3. Because of the diving I'm now starting to do, I think it would be a logical purchase. The one's I've seen in action have really impressed me. 8-)

Over priced? Well isn't everything in diving??

Thermo I've a few questions for you:

What software does the Standard VR3 come with? Nitrox?

I've been told the software up grades are about £50, how many would I need to take me up to trimix?

Could you explain a little more about this "Left hand Right hand" thing?

Anyway I'd better shut up now, as Head will be moaning about "Too much table talk"! :ugeek: :ugeek: :D

1st - Vr3 comes as OC Nitrox they term this as C1

2nd - to get to OC Trimix you need the upgrade pin code for a C1 to C3 this cost me £100 form S+O (Delta P price of £113)

The Vr£ is fuly load all you buy is a code to unlock it, Delta P are given the serial number and they look at there database and give you the corisponding code.

3rd - Left habd right Hand thing??? not sure what you mean.

Cheers for the answers. This should clear up my last question

Quote:

Convenient and user-friendly
User-changeable AA battery either 1.6V alkaline or 3.6V lithium

Easy-to-open battery cap with purpose-built key

External Switches mean the computers are fully programmable underwater

Variable light settings

 Right / left wrist mountable,

I'm thinkin you can turn the display from left to right? (up side down in other words)

Oh ya... if you hold both the buttons in whe non the dive screen it turn the display unside down for when used on the left are, this is so the connection port os always facing backwards for when using it with a RB or the high pressure cable.

:) On A more serious note the dive god Mark Ellyatt is promoting the OSTC computer from Germany, which allows the user to program the algorithm, so you can load it with his Decochek software which if its good enough for him its good enough for me and it does all the trimix and rebreather mixes and costs about 400 squid. Oh and the batterys rechargeable so no worrys there.
Only drawback is the waiting list cos all the rebreather guys are ordering them.

:x Chill out A little bit guys diving is fun

Been looking at that one for the last 6 months...... one only thing i dont like is the "user program" bit.... that means some comp geek has sat down and wrote his own program with no understanding of m-values etc you then pay him more money to use the program and end up getting bent!!!!...... At the moment mark charges £50 for his deco program and its not the most user friendly one out there, im sure the comp vertion will be higher priced.
